The Swiss Rail Tour is an Independent discovery of Scenic Switzerland from Zurich to Interlaken, Montreux, Zermatt, St. Moritz, Lugano, Lucerne returning to Zurich.

From historic Lucerne on the shores of an emerald lake to fashionable St Moritz, this tour gives you an insight to the spectacular Swiss panorama, lifestyle, charm and way of life. Marvel the Alpine village of Zermatt and fashionable St Moritz, the hangout of the rich and famous. Visit the highest peak in Europe, famed ski resort towns and Alpine meadows full of wild flowers Your independent tour is conveniently organized on the excellent rail transportation network Switzerland is so famous for. Your southernmost point is Lugano settling spectacularly on the shores of the lake by the same name with its temperate climate and palm trees. The train tour begins and ends at the lovely town of Zurich.
Day 1 Zurich
Arrival at Zurich airport or train station where our driver will be waiting with your travel documents and tickets and will take you to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight Zurich.
Day 2 Zurich
After breakfast embark on a regular city tour of Zurich. Discover Switzerlands economic capital regarded as “The city with the best quality of life”. Visit the national museum, the world famous business center at the “Bahnhofstraße”, the largest clock in Europe on the tower of St. Peter church; the picturesque Guild houses, the Opera House and the Zurich lake. Take the Cogwheel train ride for an excellent view of the residential zone of “Zürichberg” with its villas and parks. You will visit the University of Zurich and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) with its most famous former student and professor Albert Einstein. At the end of the day we stop at the old town to visit the Fraumünster church dating back to 885 AD and famous for its Chagall windows. Overnight in Zurich.
Day 3 Zurich – Interlaken
In the afternoon your journey continues to the wonderful city of Interlaken on the shores of two beautiful Alpine lakes, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, sheltered by the imposing mountain peaks of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Overnight in Interlaken.
Day 4 Interlaken – Jungfraujoch – Interlaken
After breakfast you visit one of the top attractions of Switzerland: The ”Jungfraujoch – The Top of Europe” that has been declared a natural world heritage UNESCO site. Take the cogwheel train up to Europe’s highest train station, at an elevation of 3.444 m. Once you are at the top, immerse yourself in a fascinating world of ice and snow and do not forget to visit the Ice Palace, a unique ice world in the heart of the glacier, an unforgettable experience of birds, animals, penguins, people, furniture,etc carved in ice. Return to Interlaken. Overnight Interlaken.
Day 5 Golden Pass Line: Interlaken – Zweisimmen – Montreux
Walk over to the train station and take the train to Zweisimmen, where the Golden Pass Line starts its way to Montreux. Enjoy the ride and the unforgettable views of some of the most beautiful places in Switzerland while traveling comfortably aboard this scenic train. The journey takes around 3 hours so you will have the afternoon to enjoy Montreaux. Overnight in Montreux.
Day 6 Montreux – Zermatt
In the morning make your way to the train station and take the local train to Visp. From there the train will take you to Zermatt, one of the world’s most famous ski resort towns located at the foot of the majestic Mount Matterhorn. In this town cars are banned in order to preserve its natural beauty. Again the journey is around 3 hours leaving you to enjoy the afternoon at leisure in Zermatt. Overnight in Zermatt.
Day 7 Glacier Express: Zermatt – St. Moritz
After breakfast you will board the famous Glacier Express. In the comfortable panorama car you will enjoy spectacular views of the Swiss Alps. St. Moritz is one of the most favourite destinations in Switzerland, regardless of the season this place dazzles you with its beauty, either with a landscape full of snow or with its verdant landscape and summer flowers. Overnight in St. Moritz.
Day 8 Bernina Express: St. Moritz – Tirano -Lugano
In the morning make your way to the train station. The first stop of the day is Tirano. In Tirano you see the wonderful novel palace of the XVII and XVIII centuries, this city is famous for its baroque Marian shrine. Then you continue to Lugano on the shores of the lake bearing the same name. Lugano has its own Mediterranean micro-climate and is well known for its incredible scenery. Rest of the day free to enjoy. Overnight in Lugano.
Day 9 Gotthard Panorama Express: Lugano – Fluelen – Lucerne
After breakfast board the famous Gotthard Panorama Express to Flüelen. Here you board a steamboat and cruise along Lake Lucerne through a marvelous landscape to the city of Lucerne. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Lucerne.
Day 10 Lucerne
Lucerne is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Switzerland. This city has the oldest covered bridge in Europe as well as cobbled streets, baroque churches and historic houses, for example, the luxurious Concert Hall. This famous bridge called “Kapellbrücke” is considered the oldest of Europe and is the icon of this beautiful city. Overnight in Lucerne.
Day 11 Lucerne – Zurich
Make your way to the train station in Lucerne at your convenience to board the train to Zurich. The tour ends at the Train Station or Airport in Zurich.
