Germany Tourism and Austria offer so much to the modern traveller. Everything from spectacular natural landscapes, eventful history and great food, wine and beer. Germany is a landscape of forests, rivers, mountain ranges and North Sea beaches. It has over 2 millennia of history from the tribes that conquered Rome through to the post war democracy and leading European nation. The capital Berlin in the Northeast has a thriving art scene and has many sites from WWII. Germany is rich in natural beauty. Between the North Sea and Baltic coasts in the north and the peaks of the Alps in the south lie extremely diverse landscapes, with everything from wide expanses of river and lakeland scenery, hilly uplands and densely wooded regions to agricultural plains and industrial conurbations. The Zugspitze is the highest mountain in Germany at 2,963 metres. Germany’s longest river is the Rhine, which flows through the country for a total of 865 kilometres. Germany has 16 national parks and 104 nature reserves.
Austria is a small, mountainous country in the heart of Europe. The local language is German and many speak fluent English, especially in major cities. Vienna, the elegant imperial city was once the glorious center of the powerful Austro-Hungarian Empire. This former glory is reflected in impressive stately buildings, rich cultural life, elegant balls and romantic waltzes. Austria was once the home some of the greatest composers of all time and boasts the most renowned orchestras and opera houses. Romantic Salzburg, birthplace of W.A. Mozart, is always enticing with its local charm. Spectacular scenery greets you around the country side with ancient castles, cozy vineyards, venerable abbeys overlooking the legendary Blue Danube.
Germany and Austria are must see countries for any traveler.
