Day 1, Vienna, Saturday
Arrival at Vienna airport, transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day at your leisure. Meet your tour guide and other group members at the welcome dinner in your hotel. Overnight in Vienna. (D)
Day 2, Vienna, Sunday
This morning after breakfast we start a city tour of Vienna. Drive by the most important palaces and historical buildings like the Hofburg Imperial Palace, the famous Vienna Opera House, Belvedere palace, St. Stephan’s Cathedral, the Gothic city hall and the many magnificent public buildings of this elegant city, former capital of a large empire. Afternoon free to further discover the city of music and elegance on your own. (B)
Day 3, to Budapest, Monday
This morning we travel to Hungary reaching the capital, Budapest in the afternoon. Rest of the day is at leisure to discover on your own the city called: “The Queen of the Danube”. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Budapest. (B, D)
Day 4, in Budapest, Tuesday
This morning we introduce to you Budapest, divided by the Danube river into two parts: Buda and Pest. First we will see the sites on the Pest side driving by the Gothic Parliament buildings, the Hero’s Square continuing across the bridges to the hilly Buda side to see the Royal Palace, the Fisherman’s Bastion and the Matthias church on the castle hill. We will also drive up to Gellert Hill and the citadel for a panoramic view of the city below. The rest of the day is free for your own activities. (B)
Day 5 – to Krakow – Wednesday
This morning we depart from Budapest to Krakow through the scenic landscapes of the Low Tatras Mountains crossing Slovakia to Krakow, former capital of Poland. Upon arrival we will have a dinner at our hotel in Krakow. (B, D)
Day 6, in Krakow, Thursday
After breakfast we embark on a historical sightseeing tour of Krakow with the castle hill, Wawel and its Royal Castle and Cathedral. We will walk downhill from the castle to the old city below where we visit the old Market Square, the Renaissance Cloth Hall with its arcades and St. Mary’s Church. Every hour you can watch the trumpeter’s performance in the tower of the church commemorating a 13th century hero during the Mongol invasion period. The afternoon is free for your own activities to enjoy the many cafes and stroll around historic streets on your own. Overnight in Krakow. (B)
Day 7, Krakow Auschwitz – Warsaw, Friday
Today you will have the opportunity to visit one of the most horrific war memorial of Europe, the Auschwitz Concentration Camp. After the trip we will drive to the Jasna Gora Monastery, with its national relic, symbol of Polish resistance, a blackened picture of the Virgin Mary popularly called the “Black Madonna”. Arrival in Warsaw, dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Day 8, in Warsaw, Saturday
Today we have a sightseeing tour of Poland’s capital. First we drive through the former Royal Route to Lazienki Park and Palace, the summer residence of the last king of Poland, then towards the Warsaw Ghetto and the Barbican. After our panoramic visit we walk through the the Old Town where you can see the house where Madame Curie was born, the old Market Square with charming medieval houses and St. John’s Cathedral. The rest of the day is at your leisure to stroll around on the ancient street, to shop or relax. In the evening you an also attend an optional Chopin concert. Overnight in Warsaw.(B)
Day 9, Warsaw Sunday
After breakfast, transfer to the airport. End of services. (B)
