Friday Departures – all year

Day 1 Sat : Istanbul
Independent arrival on your own at Istanbul airport and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day free to recover from jet lag. Welcome briefing in the evening, overnight in Istanbul.

Day 2 Sun: Istanbul
Full day tour to visit the most famous sites including the Topkapi Palace (excluding harem, which is optional.); the remains of the Byzantine Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque, and the Grand Bazaar, the largest covered market in the world. Optional: Dinner with belly dancing entertainment. (B)

Day 3 Mon: Istanbul – Ankara
Time at leisure or morning optional tour of St. Sophia, once the largest structure in the world and symbol of once mighty Byzantinum former center of Christianity on the East. The visit is followed by a cruise on the Bosphorus strait separating Europe from Asia, sailing by the many lovely wooden villas, parks, Ottoman castles, gardens and cafes on both shores. Afternoon departure for Ankara around 3 p.m.. Late arrival at Ankara. (B,D)

Day 4 Tue : Ankara – Cappadocia
Morning departure to view Hittite artifacts at the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, Turkey’s most interesting world class museum displaying Anatolia’s ancient past starting around 5000 B.C.. Visit the Mausoleum of Ataturk, who was the father of modern Turkey. Drive to Cappadocia, touring a 13th century caravan inn en route. Enjoy a dinner at a local restaurant. We will visit the underground city of Sarati, one of the many secret underground settlements Cappadocia is famous for. Dinner in Cappadocia, possibility to join and optional Whirling Dervishes performance. (B,D)

Day 5 Wed : Cappadocia
Early morning optional: Balloon Tour. Experience of floating through volcanic valleys, fairy chimneys and caves with the sunrise of Cappadocia. Return to the hotel. After breakfast visit the rock byzantine churches carved in soft tufa rocks at Goreme, Avanos, Pasabag, Red Valley and have a brief regional pottery workshop in a cave. Dinner and overnight in Cappadocia (B,D)

Day 6 Thu: Cappadocia – Pamukkale
Drive to Pamukkale renowned for it cascading frozen waterfall..En route we visit the famous mausoleum of the Sufi philosopher Mevlana, at former lodge of the Mevlevi order of the Whirling Dervishes. Arrive in Pamukkale, dinner and overnight (B,D)

Day 7 Fri : Pamukkale – Kusadasi
Today is the day to pay an early morning visit unique Cotton Fortress, the white calcium cascades formed by local mineral springs as well as the remains of Roman Hierapolis, one of the first modern spa centers of the ancient world. Then we drive to Kusadasi,. the popular see-side resort. Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi (B,D)

Day 8 Sat: Ephesus & St. Mary’s House – Kusadasi
Full day tour of the famous ruins of Ephesus dating back to Greek -Roman times with its marble streets, temples, odeon and the library of Celsius it is considered the largest city remained from antiquities and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to St.Mary’s Cottage where the “mother of God” spent her last days accompanied by St. John. ( Standard tour – Full day tour to Ephesus is optional ) Continue to to a local rug factory where you will have a brief demonstration of this venerable art form. Optional tour to the typical village of Sirince. Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi. (B,D)

Day 9 Sun : Pergamum – Troy – Canakkale
Drive north to Pergamum where we visit the ancient Medical Center Asclepion, the oldest known hospital in the world followed by a traditional lunch at a local village with locals. In the afternoon we will continue to Troy with its famous wooden horse eternalized in the Iliad. Dinner and overnight at Canakkale. (B,D, L)

Day 10 Mon : Dardanelles – Gallipoli – Istanbul
Morning departure for Gallipoli, the site of tragic battles during WWI. Visit Anzac Cove, Lone Pine Cemetery, Chunuk Bair, then drive to Istanbul for overnight. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner in Istanbul, overnight. (BD)

Day 11 Tue : Istanbul – Return
Transfer to airport – end of services.
