This tour is an inclusive program and presents the best of nature and heritage
of Bulgaria. We will meet you with ancient towns – like Nessebar and Plovdiv,
with the ancient Thracian culture and the mysterious Madara Horseman, with the
wild nature of Ropotamo reserve, with the Valley of Roses and so we’ll reach
the excellent beaches at the Black Sea coast. Of course, we’ll start from
Sofia – a 7000 years old city, called “My Rome” by Emperor Konstantin the
Great 17 centuries ago!
Itinerary
Departures: All year around on Wednesdays
Day 1: Arrival dayArrival in Sofia.
Direct transfer to Plovdiv. Accommodation and dinner in Plovdiv. (D)
Day 2: Plovdiv city tour - Etara - Kazanlak -Veliko Turnovo (250 km).
Morning city tour of Plovdiv – the second biggest city in Bulgaria. It is famous for its old town, where you can walk in the cobbled streets, enjoying the beautiful architecture preserved from the Bulgarian Revival period. Visit the Amphitheatre, which dates back from Roman times, the Ethnographic Museum, The Roman Stadium etc. Continue to Veliko Tarnovo. On the way stop in Etara for a short visit of the open air museum , then pass through Kazanlak. Accommodation and dinner in Veliko Tarnovo

Day 3: Veliko Tarnovo – Arbanassi – Veliko Turnovo (30 km)
Morning departure to the town of Veliko Tarnovo. See the medieval capital of Bulgaria. A walk in the castle where the Bulgarian kings once lived. Visit to the oldest merchant street in the town called Samovodska Charshia. There guests can see masters who pursue their crafts according to old traditions. Proceed to Arbanassi, a small Bulgarian village situated at 4 km. from Veliko Tarnovo. Arbanassi is interesting for its architecture. See the church of Nativity, whose mural-paintings are considered a real masterpiece.Have lunch and then return to Veliko for overnight.

Day 4: Veliko Turnovo – Sofia (250 km)
Drive to Sofia where you will enjoy a half day tour of the capital city. Visit the Alexander Nevski cathedral, The church of St. Sophia, which gave the name of the city, The Round church of St. George dating back to 4th c. The Russian church of St. Nicolas, see the buildings of The National Theatre and The Parliament buildings. Accommodation and dinner in Sofia (B, D)
Day 5: Sofia – Rila Monastery – Sofia (250km) Drive to Rila Monastery – one of the greatest centers of scholarship and religion in Bulgaria during the National Revival Period. Founded in the middle of the 10 th century it played a key role in preserving Bulgarian culture and language during the centuries. It is included in the UNESCO world heritage list. See the monastery church with its amazing frescos painted by the most famous Bulgarian finest artists from 19 th c. and the monastery museum. Drive back to the capital - Sofia. Accommodation and dinner with folklore show in Sofia

Day 6: Departure towards home. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home….
